Monterey Peninsula College Talks
Monterey Peninsula College (MPC) is a public community college in Monterey, California. Established in 1947, it was the first civilian postsecondary educational institution in the Monterey Peninsula. Until 1961 it was under the jurisdiction of the Monterey Union High School District. Today, it falls within the jurisdiction of the Monterey Peninsula Community College District (MPCCD) and the California Community Colleges system. The main campus in Monterey is south of Lake El Estero, off of Fremont Street. There is an additional campus located in Marina, and the Public Safety Training Center in Seaside, on the old Fort Ord. MPC's curriculum is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
