Transcript:

Hello, beloved East Bay Meditation friends. My name is Tenson David Zimmerman, and I serve as the abiding abbot of San Francisco Zen Center's Beginner's Mind Temple, also known as City Center. And as you may know, Zen Center is comprised of three unique temples. City Center, our urban temple in San Francisco, Green Gulch Farm, our organic farm in Marin, and Tassajara Zen Mountain Center, our monastery in the Ventana Wilderness near Big Sur. On behalf of all of us at San Francisco Zen Center, the residents of City Center in particular wanted to take this opportunity to personally express our deep gratitude and appreciation to the East Bay Meditation Sangha for your tremendous generosity in contributing $1,000 to Zen Center for our emergency relief fund. Your thoughtful donation during this time of crisis will support our ability to take care of our community, our facilities, and our mission of expressing, making accessible, and abiding the wisdom and compassion of the Buddha.

In speaking to many of our residents and Sangha members, I can say that a great many of us at Zen Center deeply admire and respect the powerful and loving work that East Bay Meditation Center does to foster liberation, personal and interpersonal healing, social action and inclusive community building. Your example of how to create a diverse and socially engaged Sangha continues to inspire us. And I have personally gained and learned much whenever I participated in one of the Dharma programs offered by East Bay Meditation Center. This time of uncertainty and change has brought forth unmeasurable loss as well as heartwarming demonstrations of great Bodhisattva activity. We hope that you are finding comfort and support in Buddhist teachings, in your own personal practice, and in connecting with dear Dharma friends.

[02:14]

So while the temple doors may be closed, the Dharma always remains open. May all of you be safe, well, free of suffering, and find some measure of joy, peace, and ease during this remarkable time. Again, we offer you three deep bowels of gratitude and appreciation. Thank you. And now everyone's going to unmute. Thank you. [...]
