It means, anyway, if you have, everyone has great ear, a great eye to see what is right way to live and to know to actualize how to put right way into practice.

Very naturally, everyone has. Then, how, this is the sitting in the zen properly, this is crystallization human practice generally. Sitting is really unique, anyway, essence, essential practice. It's very works in every aspect of human activity, riding horse, riding bicycle, riding the car. When you ride a horse, you can ride a horse like this, okay. Do you understand? Is there anyone who have experienced riding horse? If you ride a horse, I have never heard ride bicycle, but I can imagine, okay.

If you ride a bicycle, if you want to ride a bicycle, no, horse, okay, straighter back. You should be one with a horse. Whatever kind of reason comes up, anyway, you should be one exactly without creating tension or loose, anyway, just one. You're flexible, your body and mind is flexible, but no mind, anyway, you're aware everything. At that time, your body and mind become flexible. So, this way is very simple practice, manifestation of simplicity in life. It seems to be simple, but it's not simple, it's very hard, because we have already stinky mind, okay, when you do, always stinky mind stick out its face from a certain window, which is called Zazen. Immediately stinky mind comes up, just like a jumping box. It's not so easy, but you should take care of it, it's good friend with you, it is good friend. Shikantala is, anyway, the essence, essential practice, open to everybody, through which you can learn the meaning of death.

Death is not death, death is eternity. In Mahayana Buddhism, Nirvana Sutra in Mahayana, it's concentrated on explaining what eternity is through Buddha's death. Eternity is not something spiritual materialism, okay, it's not, eternity is something which you can practice in your daily living. Okay, simply speaking, it is called Shobo Genzo, that's all. That's why Dogen put the term Shobo Genzo to title Hachidai Ringuaku, Eight Awarenesses of the Enlightened Person. So, eight kinds of awarenesses is exactly based on Shobo Genzo. So, please taste the meaning of Shobo Genzo again and again,

in your whole life. That time, anyway, you can understand, you can feel, what Buddha's teaching is. So, even though you don't understand Dogen's teaching, that's okay, don't try. Just in your daily living, chew on Dogen's teaching, Shobo Genzo, anyway, Shobo Genzo, chew on day after day, and very naturally, sooner or later, it's digested in your daily living. I took two days to explain the title of Shobo Genzo, because it's very important. So, for explanation of Eight Awarenesses of the Enlightened Person, you will understand a little easier, to understand each item of Eight Awarenesses.
